Location: Raleigh, NC (Triangle area)

A large, well established heavy civil contractor is hiring a Senior Estimator to lead bids on highway and bridge work in the Raleigh area. This is a strong opportunity for a Senior or Lead Estimator with DOT heavy civil bid experience who wants a stable employer with a deep backlog and a real voice on bid day. You'll own estimates from takeoff through bid day on highway, bridge and infrastructure projects, much of it NCDOT work. Triangle locals are great, and candidates ready to relocate are welcome.
What You'll Be Responsible For
Lead estimates on heavy civil highway and bridge bids from takeoff through bid day
Perform quantity takeoffs from plans and specifications
Build crew, equipment and production based cost estimates
Solicit, level and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotes
Develop bid strategy, risk review and pricing with leadership
Attend prebid meetings and site visits
Track NCDOT lettings and build the bid schedule
Mentor junior estimators and keep the estimating database current
Hand awarded work to the project team with a clean budget
Review bid results and carry the lessons into the next estimate
What We're Looking For
7+ years of heavy civil estimating, with lead estimator experience on DOT bids
Highway, bridge, earthwork, paving and drainage estimating experience
Strong takeoff and production based pricing skills
Contractor side estimating, not design side cost estimating
HCSS HeavyBid is a plus
NCDOT bid experience is a plus
Degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management is a plus
Based in the Triangle or ready to relocate to the Raleigh area
