CNC Maintenance Mechanic II

We are seeking an experienced CNC Maintenance Mechanic II for a client serving the aerospace and defense industries in Portland, Connecticut.
This position supports production and quality by ensuring the reliable operation of CNC machinery, production equipment, and mechanical systems. Responsibilities include troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, equipment repairs, vendor coordination, and facility maintenance.
Candidates must have at least 8 years of CNC troubleshooting experience to be considered.
Key Responsibilities
Troubleshoot and repair CNC machinery, including electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
Perform preventive maintenance on production machinery, motors, conveyor systems, pneumatic tools, and related equipment.
Read and interpret equipment diagrams, technical drawings, operating manuals, manufacturer instructions, and engineering specifications to diagnose and resolve malfunctions.
Identify equipment problems through operational observation and the use of precision measuring and testing instruments.
Dismantle equipment, inspect components, and remove or replace defective parts using hand tools, power tools, hoists, and cranes.
Adjust, align, and calibrate equipment components and control instruments to support proper operation.
Assist with the installation and relocation of shop machinery and equipment.
Fabricate repair parts as needed using appropriate shop equipment and tools.
Coordinate with vendors and outside service providers for complex repairs, replacement parts, and technical support.
Maintain equipment, parts, and supply inventories; prepare purchase requisitions, expedite orders, and verify deliveries.
Document maintenance activities, repairs, and preventive maintenance work.
Help reduce downtime by communicating routine maintenance practices to production employees and monitoring compliance.
Support facility maintenance and follow established safety procedures during all maintenance activities.
Required Qualifications
Minimum of 8 years of hands-on experience troubleshooting CNC machinery.
Experience diagnosing and repairing electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic equipment systems.
Experience performing preventive maintenance on manufacturing machinery and shop equipment.
Ability to interpret technical drawings, equipment manuals, diagrams, and engineering specifications.
Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, precision measuring instruments, and diagnostic equipment.
Experience preparing purchase requisitions and coordinating with equipment vendors and service providers.
Strong mechanical aptitude, troubleshooting skills, and attention to detail.
Ability to prioritize maintenance needs and communicate effectively with production personnel.
