Preventative Maintenance Technician
Posted: October 6, 2026
We are seeking a hands-on Preventative Maintenance Technician to support a precision CNC manufacturing environment. This position will be primarily responsible for performing scheduled preventative maintenance on CNC machine tools and related manufacturing equipment, helping maximize machine uptime, reliability, accuracy, and equipment life.
This is an ideal opportunity for someone who understands that the best maintenance call is the one you prevent. You’ll work closely with production and operations to identify potential equipment issues before they become downtime, complete routine maintenance activities, and help keep a high-precision machining operation running safely and efficiently.
Responsibilities
Perform scheduled preventative maintenance on CNC equipment, including CNC mills, lathes, multi-axis machining centers, and related machinery
Complete routine inspections and maintenance according to OEM recommendations and internal PM schedules
Inspect, lubricate, clean, adjust, and replace machine components as required
Maintain and service lubrication, coolant, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
Inspect and replace filters, belts, hoses, seals, fluids, and other common wear items
Check fluid levels, pressures, lubrication delivery, coolant condition, and other critical machine operating parameters
Identify abnormal machine conditions including leaks, unusual noise, vibration, excessive wear, overheating, or changes in machine performance
Perform basic troubleshooting and minor mechanical repairs when issues are identified during preventative maintenance
Support maintenance of chip conveyors, mist collectors, coolant filtration systems, air compressors, chillers, pumps, and other equipment supporting CNC operations
Coordinate more complex repairs with internal resources, machine tool distributors, OEM service technicians, or outside vendors as needed
Assist with maintaining accurate preventative maintenance schedules, service records, equipment documentation, and maintenance logs
Monitor recurring equipment issues and recommend corrective or preventative actions
Maintain appropriate inventory of common maintenance supplies, fluids, filters, replacement components, and wear items
Work with production personnel to schedule maintenance while minimizing disruption to manufacturing operations
Follow all established safety procedures, including lockout/tagout requirements
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
Assist with general manufacturing equipment and facility maintenance needs as required
Requirements
Previous experience performing preventative maintenance in a CNC machining, machine tool, industrial maintenance, or manufacturing environment
Working knowledge of CNC equipment such as mills, lathes, machining centers, or similar machine tools
Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to identify equipment wear or developing mechanical issues
Experience working with mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, lubrication, and coolant systems
Basic electrical troubleshooting knowledge preferred
Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, measuring equipment, and maintenance-related equipment
Ability to read and follow equipment manuals, preventative maintenance procedures, technical documentation, and maintenance schedules
Experience with coolant systems, filtration equipment, chip conveyors, air compressors, mist collectors, chillers, or other machine-shop support equipment is highly preferred
Strong attention to detail with a proactive, preventative approach to equipment maintenance
Ability to document completed work and maintain organized maintenance records
Ability to work independently while effectively communicating equipment concerns to production and leadership
Strong commitment to workplace safety and proper lockout/tagout procedures
High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or industrial maintenance training preferred
Ability to perform the physical requirements associated with industrial equipment maintenance, including standing, bending, climbing, lifting, and working around manufacturing equipment
